Vintage mandolin musical instrument Cole 1896. As a mandolin player since 1974, I had to buy this mandolin about 45 years ago while on vacation in Maine. . I could not get over the artistry and detail in the fingerboard inlays with abalone inserted into mother of pearl. It has been a wall hanger ever since. I hope somebody else appreciate this labor of love and piece of art. From the tailpiece inscription, It was gifted to a husband or wife in 1896. Would like to see somebody else care for this or possibly restore it. The mandolin is missing the nut and the internal top braces have come loose. Braces are included. The top is flat. It appears there was an issue where the tailpiece joins the top, however, the top has not come away from the sides. I would love to see a luthier artisan get this and restore it.
